FAQ

Where are you located?
I do not have a physical office address. We can work together virtually using the confidential, HIPPA-compliant Simple Practice platform, or I can visit you at home.
How long is a typical session?
Sessions are 55 minutes long.
What do I do to get started?
After our consultation, the admin will send you a simple package of standard intake documents to review and sign.
What is the hourly fee?
I have various packages and options that work best for you. You can opt for a package that saves money and creates accountability or pay-as-you-go. Virtual packages cost $280 for four sessions or $80 per session. Home visit packages cost $650 or $150 per session for four sessions.
How do I pay?
You can use a credit or debit card through your Simple Practice portal; I also accept cash.
Do you accept insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider, so I do not work with traditional insurance companies.
How do I make an appointment?
We will set it up via our consultation, and you will receive confirmation and access to the portal where you can cancel, change, or request appointments.
Can I cancel an appointment? Do you have a cancellation policy?
You can absolutely cancel; life happens. A 24-hour notice is ideal but not always an option. Please try to communicate. More than four cancellations and more than two no-shows/no-calls will result in termination of treatment.
What is a free initial phone consultation?
This is a free 15-minute call to discuss what’s happening and whether I am a good fit for you. If not, I can always help direct you to someone who is.
Do you work with men? Women? Couples? Adolescents?
Yup, I work with everyone. The consultation helps determine if I have the expertise to meet your needs.
Are you LGBTQIA-friendly?
Absolutely! I am part of the community myself.
Do you work with people from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and religions?
I sure do; I am a first-generation American and have worked with people from diverse backgrounds.
What can I expect in the first session?
We will get to know each other. I’ll ask you questions about what’s going on and what you’d like to accomplish. Nothing too serious at first. I want you to feel comfortable; that’s the first goal.
How long will I be in therapy?
The length of time depends on your needs. There is not a set time for therapy; if you tell me or I determine that you have built a toolbox you feel confident using, I may suggest graduation or reducing sessions.
Does anyone cry in front of you?
It’s always a cathartic experience; men, women, couples, and families have all expressed emotion through crying. I encourage you to do what feels right for you.
Do I have to tell you everything?
No. However, honesty and transparency are key to successful treatment. If you don’t feel comfortable sharing, I won’t push it until you do. It would also benefit us to explore why it was difficult for you.
Do you offer video or phone sessions?
Both
How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?
We will figure that out together. If it doesn’t feel right, I’ll help you find someone who does.
Is our work confidential?
Absolutely. Unless you tell me to share and have signed a release of information, everything is kept between you and me. There are some exceptions to this, of course. I am a mandated reporter, so if I discover that you plan on hurting yourself or another person or that a child, older adult, or disabled person is being abused in any way, I do have to report it and break confidentiality.
Do couples fight in front of you?
All the time.
Do you take sides?
My job is to mediate, not have an opinion.
How long have you been in practice?
I have been serving the mental health field since 2019.
Have you been in therapy yourself?
Yes, it’s highly encouraged for a therapist to have their own. We are not exempt from mental health challenges.
What is your educational background?
I have a B.A. in Behavioral Science from San Jose State University, an M.A. in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, and am a Psy.D. candidate from Alliant International University.
What is the best way to get in touch with you?
Email, text, or phone are all are quick and easy ways to reach me or my admin team.
Do you prescribe medications?
No, I can help refer you to psychiatrists who do prescribe.
Do you take notes?
I have software that takes notes for me; it’s called therapy and is super cool.
Am I allowed to ask personal questions?
Sure, but my response may not answer it directly, depending on the nature of the question and the motivation behind asking it.
Cats or Dogs?
Dogs, they seem less judgmental 🙂
